Hillsborough Township is committed to transparency and values the feedback of the community. This platform can be used to view recent ordinances introduced by the Hillsborough Township Committee.

Ordinances can be considered laws that, once passed by the Governing Body, are binding in the Township permanently. Ordinances are introduced at one meeting - meaning they are read and formally open public comment - and approved, denied, or tabled at a meeting 30 days later. This 30 day span gives the community time to understand the ordinance and make comments to the Township Committee regarding its contents.

In order to better facilitate public comment, Hillsborough Township will utilize this platform to post introduced ordinances, give insight into why the ordinance is being introduced and what it will affect, and give the community ways to virtually comment on the ordinance.

On the "Introduced Ordinances" tab, you will see only ordinances that have been introduced, meaning ordinances that have not yet been approved, denied, or tabled. On the page for each ordinance, you will find FAQs and/or a description of the ordinance, and the ordinance in PNG and PDF formats for viewing. Comments can be made at the bottom of the page. On the "Adopted Ordinances" tab, you will see only ordinances that have been adopted. Public comment cannot be made on ordinances already adopted by the Township Committee.

Public comment can still be made on the potential adoption date of the ordinance at a Township Committee meeting - 30 days after it is introduced.
